Matt Dubiel For U.S. Senate Chicago Tribune Questionnaire
Do you believe the response from the U.S. and its allies to help Ukraine defend Vladimir Putin’s invasion has been fulsome enough? If yes, please explain why you believe that, and if no, please explain what else you would do beyond the current administration’s response.
We are not the United States of Ukraine or the United Nations. We are the United States of America, and the USA is not the world’s piggy bank, nor are we tasked with being the bodyguards of every foreign nation that has a conflict. American Veterans who have already fought for our freedom, and already defended our Constitution, are lining the streets, battling PTSD, homelessness, skyrocketing medical costs, and inflation, and our government is printing and sending billions overseas, while our media is complicit in this massive distraction. The USA has been fueling the Russian and Chinese economies on the backs of the American working class, and now we’re financing the other side with aid to Ukraine. It’s as if the U.S. is printing money only to light it on fire. The American people, meanwhile, are suffering, and the media and government blame our mismanaged economy on Russia instead of China. Moreover, the people in our Congress, who are approving more money to be printed and spent, fail to read any of the spending bills they sign. Shame on the Chicago Tribune for framing this question in such a slanted and biased fashion. This is exactly why the American people are abandoning traditional media. It’s not your print delivery method driving them away, but rather this one-sided approach. Where is the objectivity?
There are concerns that, in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China could align with Russia in a new world order that revives a Cold War dynamic. What do you think the U.S. should do to prevent that from happening, particularly from the standpoint of America’s policies toward China?
We do not need to wait for China to align with Russia to institute a new world order. China has already aligned against the United States, with help from Corporate America and our own governments. We’ve been under a viral attack from China. China has not been held accountable in any way. In fact, China has been rewarded. China’s economy has expanded as the United States economy has contracted and fed China. Our Congress recently approved $1.8 BILLION to buy masks from China! We don’t even need them anymore, and if we did, we could have built a mask factory here. This is the most intense form of Stockholm Syndrome in history. Where are the sanctions on China? We allow them to decimate our population, our economy, and our media, and then we reward China with an influx of spending on Chinese tech companies, goods, and services and we forfeit our economic power to China while the media points at Russia. The USA has been under attack at the hand of China since before COVID, when China took back Hong Kong and delivered TikTok to teens. China has infected the bodies of our population with a virus, the souls of our citizens with their fentanyl, the minds of our college students with their Confucius institutes that spew communist propaganda on American soil, and destroyed the pocketbooks of our Middle Class via their economic takeover of our supply chain. America needs to secure our southern border now as a matter of national security to stop the supply chain of this poison. We must restore our energy independence and fortify our internal supply chain and manufacturing industries. Then, we need to close all campus Confucius institutes immediately and make China pay for the damage to America and the world as a result of the pandemic they brought to the world.
All signs point to Vladimir Putin remaining a hostile threat to the U.S. and the West for the foreseeable future. What policy shifts do you think the U.S. should make to gird itself and the West from a Putin-led Russia, both short-term and long-term?
We have been witness to the greatest attack on America since Pearl Harbor, at the hand of China, and yet the media continues to obsess over Russia. Putin did not poison our seniors with COVID; China did. Putin did not infiltrate our borders with Chinese fentanyl and Putin didn’t leave our southern border open. Biden did. Putin didn’t lock the American people down, close their businesses, close their churches, and force their children to wear masks. Fauci & Pritzker did. Putin didn’t put infected COVID patients in nursing homes with high-risk patients. Cuomo did. The policy shifts the USA must make involve getting rid of the brainless people we’ve allowed to represent us and elect patriots who will put the American people and America First. A weak USA makes Russia, China, and everyone else stronger. We must restore our energy independence now. We must secure our border now. We must stop arguing about who gets to use which bathroom and who can swim in women’s sports, and focus our efforts as a country on restoring America to an economically independent nation that stands together for common sense and what is right.
Soaring inflation has become one of the nation’s most pressing concerns. What should Washington do to rein in runaway inflation, and as a Senator, what specific measures would you propose?
Never let the government shut down the economy ever again. We need to stop printing and spending. We need to stop sending billions to Ukraine and Haiti. We need a Congress that has the common sense to READ the bills before they sign them. We need to STOP funding abortion. We need to stop talking about forgiving student loans and start promoting the trades again. College isn’t for everybody, and inflated student loans that have no chance of delivering a salary that will ever pay them off should not be allowed. Instead of talking about pronouns, critical race theory, social-emotional learning, and early sex education, we need an education system that teaches children how money works and how WORK works. We need to stop talking about raising the minimum wage and starting raising the bar on our standards for excellence in America. Our education system has failed us. We let the college industry lobby for student loans and now college is a losing proposition for most. No one wants to work because they were sold this idea of “going to college so they don’t have to work so hard. Opportunity is often disguised as hard work. Modern monetary theory is going to ruin America and we must return to a GOLD standard both for our currency and our expectations for our future. A gold standard controls inflation. The gold standard is what made the dollar the powerhouse it once was.
The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change recently concluded that the world is running out of time to stave off the most devastating consequences of global warming. Legislatively, what would be your approach toward preventing global warming from further endangering the world’s future?
The UN doesn’t tell the USA what to do or how to approach things. The USA is a sovereign nation, governed by the We the People. Human beings who accept boondoggle solutions to “climate change” like the expensive windmills across Illinois that will never generate more than they cost are damaging our planet while killing birds. They’re enriching their crony-capitalist friends in “green” industries so they all get rich on feelings without competition. Capitalists get stronger with competition. The stronger America is, the better stewards of the planet we can be. These green policies, though, are designed to weaken America. The rules only apply to those who follow the rules. If America follows the green woke mob, it will empower India, China, and other foreign nations who will pick up the slack and just pay the fines or fees for not being “green” enough. Carbon credits and carbon taxes are a new Ponzi scheme that will leave America in worse shape than we are now. We need to focus on the environmental issues causing rises in CANCER, infertility, mental illness, and gender dysphoria disorders.
The federal deficit in 2021 was $2.8 trillion. Describe what you believe are the three best ways to make a substantive reduction in the federal deficit. Please be specific in your answer.
No one would suggest that it’s okay to just print $2.8 trillion and call it even, and yet this is exactly the approach we’ve been taking in smaller measures with QE. We need to audit the federal reserve. The US needs to return to a gold standard. We need to make the USA energy independent again, and secure our border. Then we need to put a moratorium on all pork and nonsensical spending and reduce our bloated government.
Immigration reform has eluded this country for decades. What would you do to fix immigration in America? Also, do you support the DREAM Act?
We need to secure the border immediately. We had the money, and we sent it to Ukraine to defend their border. Meanwhile, fentanyl pours into our southern border and we also roll out the red carpet for gangs, and sex trafficking. Then, we pay for it all anyway. Our federal, state, and local governments and corporations have instituted unconstitutional vaccine and mask mandates on the free citizens of the USA, while illegal immigrants cross our borders and break our laws with impunity. We must secure the southern border now. Then we can streamline the legal immigration process in ways that encourage the kind of citizens who will contribute to America in positive ways, not work to change it from the inside out. America is the destination because of our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
At least 19 states have passed laws restricting access to voting. Many other states have introduced similar legislation. Do you believe such laws help or hinder the electoral process? Please explain your answer.
In order for America to continue to be the greatest nation in the history of the world, we must maintain our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Our citizens must be able to have faith and confidence in our elections and our currency. In order for our elections to have integrity, we must ensure only our citizens vote legally. The best way to ensure this is to show proof of citizenship at the polling place. We must provide I.D. to drive, buy & carry firearms, bank, work, buy liquor, and marijuana (in some states) and fly on a plane. In some areas, people have been required to show proof of vaccination in order to EAT. It’s not unreasonable to require voters to show proof they are eligible to vote. Your wording of this question is odd. “19 states have passed laws restricting access to voting.” These laws do not restrict access to voting. Everyone still has “access to voting.” Your wording and framing of these laws are part of the problem. Putting a spin on initiatives to ensure voter integrity is dangerous and irresponsible. You have to show a membership ID to get into Sam’s Club & Costco, and if you don’t, they don’t let you inside. The USA is the best club on planet Earth, and if you want to pick who gets to govern, and vote on how we spend money, you need to show your membership. If you’re not a member and want to be, you can apply. My great grandfathers Albert Dubiel (Poland) & Vincent DeSantis (Italy) both did it, and they risked death to get here with just a few bucks.
If you were asked to vote on the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, how would you vote? Please explain your rationale.
I would vote NO. The name is misleading, like many of these bill names are. That’s issue number one for me. Outside of special early voting practices for military and special circumstances, early voting is not in the best interests of election integrity. If you can buy tickets to see a concert on a date and time, you can vote on a day. The day you got your tattoo, you were there in person. If you can get to Church on Sunday you can vote on Election Day. If you can get to work, or the doctor on a day and time, you can get out to vote on Election Day. Election Day is all day. Election Day is a day, not a season. Lowering the bar never works to raise standards. We need to raise our standards in America.
Do you believe there was fraud committed in the 2020 presidential election, and do you believe the results of that election should have been overturned? Please explain your answer. And a secondary element to this question: do you support the proposed Electoral Count Modernization Act, which aims to prevent another Jan. 6-like attempt to subvert the legitimate outcome of a presidential election?
I have not studied the Election of 2020 as it relates to voter irregularity, nor do I have access to objective data regarding the 2020 Election statistics. I have spoken to thousands of American citizens and voters throughout Illinois, and there are serious concerns among the American people about election integrity. The concerns of the American people cannot and should not be ignored. Joe Biden was one of the most unimpressive Presidential candidates in my lifetime; he was less impressive as a VP and even more questionable as a Senator himself. Somehow, he garnered the most votes in American history? The American people have some concerns about the 2020 Election, and the future of elections in the USA. That fact cannot and should not be ignored or trivialized. Regarding the ECMA, it’s in such broad strokes form currently, so I couldn’t possibly comment on supporting it or not except to say that I haven’t seen much from Dick Durbin, which is worthy of support recently.
Violent crime remains one of this country’s most intractable scourges, particularly in cities like Chicago. Solutions at the local level are critical, of course, but Washington can also play a vital role. Please explain your strategy for legislation at the federal level that can help combat endemic violent crime in cities like Chicago.
Step one is to secure the southern border. When we secure the southern border, we stop the influx of dangerous fentanyl and the crime that it travels with. Those bad actors are locked out of America and the gang’s fresh supply of product and people to sex traffick diminishes. Next, we must eliminate sanctuary cities. Finally, we need to let our police do their jobs and support prosecutors who actually prosecute and incarcerate criminals. We should be encouraging law-abiding American citizens to carry firearms across the country. A national concealed carry bill would be a top priority to keep crime in check and keep Americans safe. The problem with guns in America is there aren’t enough good people trained and carrying them.
In Illinois, an exodus of people and jobs continues to imperil the state’s future economic outlook. Solutions must be undertaken at the local and state level, but what would you propose at the Federal level to help turn back this trend?
We can investigate Lori Lightfoot and JB Pritzker. It seems clear they both are complicit in working against the public interest, and logically it must be for their own benefit or enrichment somehow. The alternative to that would be they’re just evil. They locked up the people of Illinois, and forced them to get injections to keep their jobs, and meanwhile, they handcuffed the police and let criminals free. They did this while they mixed sick people with the most at-risk people, and put healthy children in masks and in quarantine. They closed small independent businesses, and allowed major chains to stay open. They closed exercise facilities but kept liquor, marijuana, and gambling outlets open. Abortion clinics kept pace with 45,000 annual Illinois abortions, while churches were closed, funerals were canceled, and weddings were postponed to “keep us safe.” Carjackings have skyrocketed, as flash mobs have perfected the smash and grab so well that they’ve been able to branch out from Chicago into the suburbs. All the while, someone made money on testing healthy people, and an influx of federal funds spread out across the state. Yeah, I think we need to investigate Lori Lightfoot and JB Pritzker. I remember the good old days when the Chicago Tribune used to dig into this sort of thing.
Sum up why should voters nominate you and not your opponent(s)? (Please limit this to policy and approach, not a biography recitation.)
Matt Dubiel is the guy who can beat Tammy Duckworth in November. I am a husband, father of four, and middle-class business person who will represent YOU in Washington D.C., and back here at home. I will not bend to the mob. I will stand up for your kids and you. To fix the problems, you must be able to see the problems. Our schools are a BIG problem. The Tribune didn’t even ask about our schools. We have schools that are teaching our beautiful babies to hate the way God made them, and to hate their country. They’re not teaching them basic math, or common sense and then they wonder why we have a student debt crisis and a labor shortage. Our freedoms have been dismantled over the last few years. We must protect our kids, and support our parents. We must secure our border and restore law and order in our communities. We must protect our medical freedom so you can work, eat, live, and breathe as YOU see fit without having to share your papers anywhere in the United States of America. We need representatives who actually show up and vote on bills they read. Tammy Duckworth has the worst voter attendance record in the Senate. When Tammy & Dick show up, they vote 99% the same, so common sense isn’t being represented for Illinois. You can’t move to a red state and escape Dick & Duck’s woke votes in the Senate. They had a chance to vote to lift mask mandates on planes, and Tammy didn’t even show up. She was too busy tweeting about her abortion goals and the discriminatory hiring practices she wants to implement in government with Durbin & Biden. No more printing and spending money to send across the globe, while your spending power declines. It’s time to put Americans first. Matt Dubiel has got your back, for one term. Then, it’s someone else’s turn. That’s how it’s supposed to work America! Let’s go!
Matt Dubiel For U.S. Senate Shaw Local Questionnaire
What is your position on reestablishing the Child Tax Credit at $3,500 per child as set in the American Rescue Plan?
Middle-class families simply need lower taxes. We don’t need bait-and-switch credits to make us feel like we’re getting our own money back. The biggest tax on the middle and working-class right now is inflation. No child tax credit is going to fix what inflation is doing to our personal economies. Middle-class families are paying more for everything (if we can get it) and we are not making more. Prices for some things are double or triple, and our paychecks aren’t going up by leaps and bounds. The middle class is being nickeled and dimed. We need Congress to stop printing and spending our money. It hurts us when we spend it, when we send it, and then again when inflation hits.
Do you believe that corporations pay enough in taxes?
It depends on which corporations. The mom and pop corporations are paying too much if you ask us. We got shut down, we are trying to ramp back up, and now, here comes inflation, the shortage of darn near everything, and gas prices. So, small businesses are paying plenty, one way or another. Now big corporations like the NBA, NFL, Walmart, Nike, Amazon, Comcast, Apple, Disney, and others may be a different story. What about big Pharma? We just subsidized their growth with our economy and in many cases our bodies. More taxes aren’t always the answer. The government spends a lot. The people are taxed A LOT. We need to spend less before we start taxing anyone more.
Would you support increases or decreases in the amount of taxes corporations pay? Why?
We have a spending problem in America. We have a printing problem in America. We print and we spend. The people who are doing this were elected by us, and now they vote on bills they don’t read. Then, they print our money, and spend it on nonsense. We’re funding gender studies, abortion, and foreign wars. We need to curb our spending and hold our government accountable.
Do the rich, defined as the wealthiest 1%, pay enough in taxes?
Ask them. Did you know if you look at the world as a whole, America is the 1%. Our poorest people in America have $1,000 iPhones and wear Nike shoes. America is the 1% of the world. So, should we take more money from the rich and give it to the poor? That sounds like Robinhood. That’s redistribution. America is a capitalist country. In America, you can start a business, grow it and make money. Or you can get a job. But imagine if you started a business and made a lot of money, and now the people who are bad with money want a piece of your action. They want you to pay off their student loans. They want you to pay for their house. The USA doesn’t have an income problem. The USA has a spending problem. Take Congress and let them run the companies of the 1% in America, and they’ll ruin the company. I think we need to have more people with business experience (like me) involved in government, for a short run as intended.
Would support changes in the tax code that would increase or decrease their tax burden? Why?
I support changes in the tax code that decrease the burden on the middle class and the working class. Businesses need to have incentives to stay in America. If we tax them out of America, we have supply chain problems, and job shortages. If we tax them too much, they’re going to pass that onto the consumer, and then it’s a tax on the middle and working-class again. Should Apple be able to avoid taxes and use its cash surplus to buy its own stock and hoard cash? No. The middle class needs relief on the tax front. If the tide doesn’t turn soon, there will not be a middle class left.
Do you support raising taxes on capital gains and dividends? Why?
No, I do not support raising taxes on the middle class. The middle class needs school vouchers so their money follows their children and they have school choice. The middle class needs less of a financial burden. We need to get back to an economy where a family can survive and thrive on a single income, not struggle with two incomes to cover the government’s spending problems. The government has proven to be a poor steward of our finances. Giving the government MORE money doesn’t make sense. We need to give them less so they use it more responsibly.
The COVID-19 pandemic saw a breakdown in this country’s supply chain. What would you propose to fix it?
Don’t let governments shut down the economy ever again. The government created this problem. We didn’t shut down the economy for World War II. Our women went to work. Our factories shifted to make planes and fabricate steel. The people who shut our economies down and advised doing so should be held accountable. They shut down the best economy in history over a virus that has a 99.97% survival rate no matter what you do. At minimum, these people should have to eat their hats in the town square. That said, we have supply chain, manufacturing, and labor issues. We’ve raised generations of people who think they’re going to go to college “so they don’t have to work so hard.” And now, we all hear this mantra over and over: “No one wants to work.” So, the answer is to stop giving them free stuff and stop lowering the bar. Make opportunity look like work again. Get the government OUT of our lives and get America back to business. Give tax INCENTIVES to businesses to bring manufacturing back to America. Make America energy independent again. Make things in America again.
How would you bring back manufacturing jobs?
Pave the way for the industry to thrive. Remove the hurdles that are killing the industry here, like the war on energy. Provide tax incentives to companies to be in America, and levy tariffs on foreign goods. But really, with such a lag on goods from overseas, and inflated prices plus shipping rates, all these American manufacturers need to do is offer the goods and services we can’t get in a timely fashion for a fair price. Tax breaks can help with that, but may not be required. We need to protect the workers and restore their freedom to work, without papers, passes, masks, etc.
What plans do you have to help the lower and middle class?
For starters, I will represent the middle and working class in D.C. and here at home. No one is doing that. Our reps are only serving the elites. Then we need to give the middle and working-class families school choice to level the playing field for all children and families. It shouldn’t take money to get a good education. We need to let the money follow the students, so every child has the best chance at a real education void of woke nonsense. Competition among schools will weed out the indoctrination, in favor of true skills and education. Then, we need to curb inflation by halting the printing press, spending, and restoring the gold standard. When we fix the education and the money, the middle and working-class have the tools we need to succeed.
How do you feel about mask mandates?
Mask mandates don’t work to improve a 99.97% survival rate. Mandates are not law. We don’t have kings, or dictators in America. We have three branches of government for good reason. We have a constitution and bill of rights. You can wear a mask, and if you want to, you should. But, no one has a right to make me or my kids wear a mask or anything else. I sued Governor Pritzker for my kids’ rights to be mask free in school, and we won. I’ll fight for your kids like they’re my own.
Is America prepared for either another round of the current pandemic, or the next one?
America isn’t prepared to fight the fentanyl pandemic at our southern border, unless we secure the border. Illinois isn’t prepared to fight the abortion pandemic (45,000 annually) unless we stop funding it. Chicago isn’t prepared to end the murder pandemic in the city unless they let their police and prosecutors do their jobs. If we let Biden, Birx, Fauci, and Pritzker run the show again, we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes. The biggest mistake was shutting down the economy, locking down the country, testing healthy people, quarantining healthy people, and masking children. This virus has a 99.97% survival rate no matter what you do or do not do.
Do you support new laws or regulations to safeguard people in the event of another pandemic?
No. The people who were “keeping us safe” killed the economy, the American spirit, and many people. We lost people to suicide, drug overdose, heart irregularities, and more. Meanwhile, COVID-19 has a 99.97% survival rate no matter what. Additionally, we do not know the long last effects of these experimental vaccines. We won’t for some time. We do, however, know the effects on our children who have delayed speech, developmental delays, and more. Time will tell what impact these mandates had on the people.
Should Medicare be expanded to include dental coverage for older Americans?
Probably. The danger with expanded coverage is it often leads to increased pricing. College prices skyrocketed once student loans were accessible. Now prices are through the roof. The same goes for regular medical treatment in the USA. There would have to be pricing controls. If you can travel to Mexico or Europe and get cheaper dental care, we should be able to find a way to deliver quality dental care to seniors within medicare.
What are the top two threats to our national security?
The number one threat to our national security is the fact that our military, Commander-In-Chief, and cabinet have undergone an experimental vaccine. We have no idea what can and will happen to them, and the fact that the military was required to take it without controls and contingency is a serious national security issue. The number two threat to our national security is President Biden’s diminished mental and cognitive abilities. The third threat to our national security is the southern border.
What should be done to eliminate them?
We must never allow a sweeping vaccination trial across our government and military like this ever again. We need to enlist new military recruits who are unvaccinated immediately. We need to secure our southern border immediately and replace President Biden.
What is your position on nuclear energy expansion?
America needs to be energy independent again. Safe, regulated nuclear energy is in place in Illinois and it works. There needs to be a consideration for national security and national infrastructure when planning any expansion and it can’t be rolled out like the windmills that cost a lot and do very little. Measure and test before expanding broadly.
Should America invest in other forms of renewable energy? Please explain.
Maybe. But better not to declare war on the ones that work for us. Just because it’s renewable doesn’t mean it’s reliable. We know what works, and we need to work towards alternatives that also work, not just make us feel good.
Should pregnant women have the right to get an abortion?
They shut down the economy to “keep each other safe” from a virus that has a 99.97% survival rate. They closed school, and then masked kids when school resumed. They canceled funerals and weddings. They closed churches. There were about 36,000 total COVID deaths in Illinois during the pandemic, total. Meanwhile, each year during COVID, Illinois had 45,000+ abortions. Why aren’t we trying to keep everyone safe? Why are you calling it a “right” to get an abortion? I want to protect life. Children need to be protected, no matter how old they are.
Is the immigration system a problem in this country? If so, what is your plan to fix it?
We need to secure the border immediately. We had the money, and we sent it to Ukraine to defend their border. Meanwhile, fentanyl pours into our southern border while we roll out the red carpet for gangs, and sex trafficking. Then we pay for it all anyway.
Do American cities have a crime problem?
Not just cities. It’s leaking out into the suburbs too. They handcuffed the cops and let the criminals free. We need to restore law and order and let the police do their jobs. Then we need prosecutors who will prosecute. Secure the border, end sanctuary cities, get more citizens armed and trained to carry firearms, and watch the crime shrink. We need a national Concealed Carry License.
Should police officers have qualified immunity in cases involving alleged excessive force or other misconduct?
We need to empower our police to do their jobs. They can’t be afraid of losing their jobs, or their freedom for doing their job. If they’re good enough to do the job, they need to be backed up and supported. If they’re not fit for the badge, they need to be removed. Like all people, they are innocent until proven guilty.
Do you support any restrictions on gun purchases or other stricter gun control measures including citizens’ access to military-style weaponry?
I don’t know what you mean by “military-style weapon”. That could be anything. Do you think an AR-15 is military style? Police in the suburbs carry ARs. Generally, I do not support restrictions on law-abiding citizens.
Illinois, along with many states across the country, has legalized marijuana, making it legal for people to buy and use it. Marijuana, however, is still illegal at the federal level. Do you support legalizing marijuana nationally? Why or why not?
Medicinal, yes. Recreational, no. I don’t support it for recreation in Illinois or Naperville where I live. It’s a bad move. It has not fueled economic growth. It’s not curbing illegal use. It’s not making it “safer.” It’s just making it more common. I’m not against the concept, just the impact. That said, making it legalized at the national level is really a function of banking and taxation. It will make it easier for those in that business. I understand this issue, but I will not support it. Even without my support, it will likely pass when it reaches the floor.
Did Joe Biden win the 2020 election?
He’s in the White House. Should he have won? No.
Would you have voted to ratify his presidency?
I will always stand up for truth and justice and represent the people of Illinois.
What is your position on the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol?
I don’t have access to the intelligence or the investigation. All “We The People” see is the media narrative, and the spin of talking heads from both sides. Congress needs to do its job, and the Capitol Police need to do theirs. The people have the right to assemble peacefully. Most of the people in D.C. did that. One of those people was killed. I saw a video of people misbehaving outside the building, and I saw footage of staff opening doors and escorting calm people through the Capitol. Some of the people who were finally charged for the activities of January 6th were recently acquitted by a judge. That’s how justice works in America. The Constitution provides “We The People” certain protections FROM the government like a right to face your accuser, a speedy trial, and innocence until proven guilty. The media has done exponentially more damage to threaten our Constitution and what it stands for than anyone on January 6th.
Was it an insurrection?
I wasn’t there, but if it was then I suppose the Capitol protest during the Kavanaugh hearings was too.
Should people convicted of a crime related to their participation in the riot ever be pardoned?
I don’t have enough information to comment on this.
Should voters be required to show an ID to vote?
Yes. In order for America to continue to be the greatest nation in the history of the world, we must maintain our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Our citizens must be able to have faith and confidence in our elections and our currency. In order for our elections to have integrity, we must ensure that only our citizens vote legally. The best way to ensure this is to show proof of citizenship at the polling place. We must provide I.D. to drive, buy & carry firearms, bank, work, buy liquor, and marijuana (in some states) and fly on a plane. If you’re not a member and want to be, you can apply. My great grandfathers Albert Dubiel (Poland) & Vincent DeSantis (Italy) both did it, and they risked death to get here with just a few bucks.
Would you, as a member of Congress, ever vote against certifying presidential electoral votes submitted by states’ official voting authorities?
I will always stand up for truth and represent the people of Illinois.
Matt Dubiel For U.S. Senate Daily Herald Candidate Questionnaire
What needs to be done to get Congress to work constructively, whether that be senators and representatives of both parties working with each other or Congress itself working with the president?
“We the People” need representatives who show up for voting. Tammy Duckworth does not show up enough for votes in the Senate. Duckworth has a 5.3% no vote rate, which is more than double the median rate for U.S. Senators. Secondly, we need representatives who READ all legislation BEFORE they vote on it. This Congress is passing bills they haven’t even read entirely. Finally, we need an active and engaged citizenry to hold our representatives accountable. This means we need a period of review for this same legislation so “We the People” may read it and let our representatives know how WE feel. We cannot just vote people in and hope they do what we send them to do. The People must stay engaged.Â
What is your position on changing voter access?
Election Day should be a day, not a season. In order to vote in America, you need to be a citizen of America. Just like in order to shop inside Costco you must be a member of Costco and show your ID to get in. We must protect the integrity of our elections and require that voters show proof of citizenship to vote. It’s not racist; it’s prudent. Encouraging accountability in voting is being propagandized as voter suppression and that is a terrible precedent in the United States of America. Our veterans fought to protect our Constitution and our right to vote. We cannot give that away. We must protect it the way they protected America.
Do you recognize that the election of Joe Biden as president in 2020 was legitimate and fair? If not, why?
Myself and many Americans I speak to do not recognize our country right now.
What, if anything, should Congress do to prevent another violent attack such as the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol?
This question is already slanted with the use of the word “attack.” I don’t have access to the intelligence or the investigation. All “We The People” see is the media narrative, and the spin of talking heads from both sides. Congress needs to do its job, and the Capitol Police need to do theirs. The people have the right to assemble peacefully. Most of the people in D.C. did that. One of those people was killed. I saw a video of people misbehaving outside the building, and I saw footage of staff opening doors and escorting calm people through the capital.
What do you see as the most important issues to address regarding immigration reform? If you oppose funding for a wall, what steps do you support to try to control illegal immigration?
We need to secure our border immediately and finish the wall. The border is a pathway for dangerous drugs, weapons, disease, and sex trafficking and this vulnerability is sabotaging our country. The southern border is an issue of national security that requires immediate attention. We need to work on legal immigration paths. so the best and brightest from other countries can become legal citizens of the USA. The most important issue regarding immigration is securing our southern border now. The people must opt-out of the divisive politics of the wall and unite to tell our government ENOUGH. We will not allow this influx of migrants from around the world. We will not take our shoes off at O’Hare Airport while you let unvetted illegals into our southern border. We will not take temperature scans, and submit to medical testing domestically while you let untested and unchecked foreign nationals into OUR country. It must stop now.
What do you consider America’s role in world affairs? In particular, what should our role be regarding current points of tension involving Russia/Ukraine, the future of Taiwan, or other threats of Chinese expansionism and the Middle East?
America First. We need to fortify America now. We need to secure America’s border now. We need to get America’s energy independence back. We need to get America’s law and order back. We need to get America’s economy back. No more printing and spending. No more passing bills they don’t read. No more social justice spending and wasting. We need to fix our infrastructure in the USA, bring manufacturing back, and make things in America again so we can keep our economy strong inside America. The stronger we make America, the better we can help the rest of the world if and when the time is right. A weakened and hobbled America with weak leaders, and representatives are no help to anyone else in the world. The world needs America to be strong so we can lead from strength. For the last 3 or more years, America has been empowering China. America needs to get out from under China’s stranglehold on America. We need to remove their Confucius institutes from our college campuses.
Do you acknowledge humans’ role in causing climate change? What steps should the government be taking to address the issue?
Human beings who accept boondoggle solutions to “climate change” like the expensive windmills across Illinois that will never generate more revenue than they cost are damaging our planet while killing birds. They’re enriching their crony-capitalist friends in “green” industries, so they all get rich on feelings without competition. Capitalists get stronger with the competition. The stronger America is, the better stewards of the planet we can be. These green policies are designed to weaken America.
Please define your position on health care reform, especially as it relates to the Affordable Care Act.
If we learned anything from COVID and the aftermath of the government’s involvement in COVID, we need to get the government out of healthcare. “We The People” want and deserve medical freedom. When the history books are written, the mess government and corporatism have made of our country in the name of “keeping us safe” will go down as tyrannical and evil. The government should be protecting the people from overreaching and invasive medical mandates and practices. The government should be protecting people from big pharma, not partnering with big pharma. The government to us said that if we like our doctor, we can “keep our doctor,” and that did not happen for everyone. We need to repeal and replace Obamacare. We need the government to intercede on behalf of the people and make prescription medications and medical services affordable again. We need to stop calling genital mutilation surgery chemical castration, and abortion “health care,” and cease funding it. We need to get employers OUT of our healthcare.
Matt Dubiel For U.S. Senate WTTW Candidate Survey
Our two current Senators from Illinois are voting 99% in lockstep with each other, that is, when Tammy Duckworth even shows up to vote. Her missed votes are among the highest in the Senate. Our current Senators are voting for unqualified Supreme Court nominees, bills they haven’t read, social justice causes, and inflationary printing and spending that is bankrupting the USA. I will vote on behalf of the people of Illinois. Our parents want school choice. Our seniors and families want safer communities. The nation needs to secure our border to stop the influx of criminals, dangerous drugs, and disease.
The Constitution and the system of having two Senators from each state is a sound concept. Senators serving six-year terms are supposed to bring and keep stability in our legislative branch. But, that is not happening, as our current Senators are echoing woke policies from a very radical progressive agenda. Our Senators are supposed to be in ILLINOIS, with the people, and bring OUR concerns, problems, and solutions to Washington. Instead, our current Senators are selling a Washington agenda back to the people of Illinois. We need to fix this by voting them out and imposing term limits for all elected positions. We need to stop voting for people because they check certain boxes and start voting for people who have integrity and a strong resolve to stand up against the mob mentality and special interests in Washington. We need to change campaign finance rules so candidates like Duckworth can’t buy their way in over and over again.
Our number one issue in America is the economy. We have elected representatives printing and spending money inside bills they don’t read. We need to stop printing and spending. We need to stop sending money outside America. We need to put America First immediately. The financial destruction of the USA (from the inside out) coupled with the fact that Congress has not funded and finished the wall on our southern border is an issue of national security. We need to make things in America again. We need to restore our energy independence, and our military, and we need to stop this COVID theatre that is driving our productivity into the dark ages. No more billions to China for masks and tests. China needs to pay trillions for its damages to America.
For starters, I will spend all my time (when not in session) in Illinois with the people of Illinois. I give my personal number to everyone now. That’s not changing. I will call people back. I will not send these epic and evasive form letters our current Senators foist upon their constituents. I will work FOR the people. I will also be using social media to connect with the people of Illinois, instead of talking down to them while selling them on woke policies, spending, printing, or “National Dog Day.” Our Representatives aren’t cruise directors, or pitchmen for big tech and big pharma. We are the voice of the people of Illinois and as Senator, I will BE one of the people of Illinois. I will already be at the school board meeting bringing attention to issues MY fellow Americans need help with. We don’t need Senators at ribbon cuttings for photo ops. We need Senators standing with parents at school board meetings, and standing with nurses, cops, vets, students, and our military to support their medical freedom. You will see Matt Dubiel standing beside them, advocating for them in the mainstream media, and connecting directly with the people via social media, zoom calls, and forums.
